Lee Murphy (Mom) and Graham Murphy (athlete), 2025 Texas Relays Champion and 2X Oklahoma State High Jump Champion (2023 and 2025) / PB: 2.14m 7’0.25”.
Lee Murphy (Mom): We learned about Kangaroo TC from a google search and a fellow high jumper in OK. Graham was having success but needed technical support to help him achieve his in-season goals. Hugo exceeded all of his expectations and mine. Immediately, I could tell that Hugo truly understood the entire athlete from a technical skills perspective but also from a mental toughness perspective. So much of elite athletics is as much of a mind game as it is a physical one. Hugo has helped train Graham on both fronts and with just two practices, Graham went from 6’5” to 6’10” and won the OK State 3A Championship in 2023. Graham is so looking forward to continuing his training with Hugo and Kangaroo Athletics. Thank you for all that you do for these athletes.
Graham Murphy (athlete): When I first went to Hugo I didn’t expect much, due to the fact that it was only one lesson. I have never been more wrong. During that one lesson I went from 6’5 to 6’8 in the rain. Not only is Hugo an amazing coach he is an amazing person. There is nothing better than the environment at kangaroo track club. My second lesson, which was a couple of weeks after the first, I wasn’t performing as well as I wanted. I could hardly get over 6’2 but thanks to Hugo, he taught me how to get over the mental component and just relax. My very next meet I put all the training he taught me together including the new dance moves and soared over 6’10”. I could not have had a better finish to my freshman season. Would not have been able to do it without him.
