Cinco Ranch HS in TX (Jumping at Air Force Academy) – 12/23/13

Emily (athlete):
Hello Coach Hugo!
I just wanted to drop you a note of thanks as the US Air Force Academy track team begins preparations for the indoor track season. After working with me after my injury that keep me out of high school track my junior year, it was your ability to re-instill my self- confidence in my abilities as well as your continual work with me to improve my technical skills that made the difference. I really appreciated that you took your personal time to see me compete my senior year in invitational meets as well as the Texas 5A Regional and State meet. I am so looking forward to my indoor track season at the Academy and bettering the 5’8″ PR I achieved my senior year. Hope to get in a lesson or two with you when I am home for the holidays to kick start my track and field season in the new year.

Kathleen (mom): My family had the good fortune of meeting Hugo soon after he relocated to Katy, Texas. During our first lesson with Hugo, we met a family that had flown to Texas from Minnesota, so that their daughter could work with Hugo.
My daughter Emily and I were shocked to learn that many other jumpers also make the journey just to meet with Hugo!
After the first jump lesson, we knew Hugo was the perfect coach for Emily. Hugo and Emily developed a special bond, and Emily respected each challenge, critique and praise that was given to her.
Throughout the years, my daughters have played various sports and we have been surrounded by multiple coaches. What sets Hugo apart from the others, is his professional commitment to the athlete.
Hugo is all about giving credit to the student and not to himself or his coaching. Hugo is a man of honesty and high moral character.
During high school, an injury sidelined my daughter for the entire year. Despite the absence of jumping, Hugo maintained contact with us. He assured one distraught young lady that “It will be OK buddy.”
And it was. Emily continued to improve the following year with a PR 5′ 8″ and for the second time qualified to compete at State.
Emily had her choice to attend top level schools and entered USAFA in the fall 2013 and is a competitor on the Track/Field team. Our relationship with Hugo doesn’t end there. Emily jumps with Hugo any chance
she can “squeeze” in a lesson. The lesson involves much more than jumping. the conversation is just as important.
We are blessed that we have become friends with the Munoz family, and so thankful they stayed in Katy!

Thanks to the Munoz family for attending Emily’s meets and ALWAYS being her “cheerleaders.” As they say at the Air Force…….”AIM HIGH”

Always grateful
Kathleen Richard and family
